As I look back on 2017, I am very grateful for the BETTER THINGS He promised and delivered. Hebrews 6:9-10 NLT says, …We are confident that you are meant for better things, things that come with salvation. 10 For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. This is the word the Lord gave me for 2017 and I can confidently say He did what He promised.
Well, what about 2018? As I was in prayer concerning this year, what I heard the Lord say to me was, “2018 is your TURNING POINT.” Glory to God!!! Many of you have had things take place in your lives that may have left you disappointed, disillusioned and discouraged but once you experience a turning point, you will never be the same and won’t even look the same as before. I can personally tell you that the curveball that Satan throw at you will be your turning point if you believe in God’s faithfulness and love for you.
Romans 4:1-3 (Voice), In light of all of this, what should we say about our ancestor Abraham? 2 If Abraham was made right by performing certain works, then he would surely have something to brag about. Right? Not before the Creator God, 3 because as the Scriptures say, “Abraham believed God and trusted in His promises, so God counted it to his favor as righteousness.”
Now look at these scriptures in the Message Bible, So how do we fit what we know of Abraham, our first father in the faith, into this new way of looking at things? If Abraham, by what he did for God, got God to approve him, he could certainly have taken credit for it. But the story we’re given is a God-story, not an Abraham-story. What we read in Scripture is, “Abraham entered into what God was doing for him, and that was the turning point. He trusted God to set him right instead of trying to be right on his own.”
What I get from these scriptures is that when we enter into what God is doing for us, notice, “WHEN WE ENTER INTO WHAT GOD IS DOING FOR US, THAT IS OUR TURNING POINT.” So what is it to enter into what God is doing for you? Well it certainly is not what you are doing for God only but it is trusting God to do what you could never do yourself to qualify you for the promises He has given you. We can never qualify ourselves other than believing that He has already qualified us through Jesus. It is believing that no amount of our religious performance qualifies us for the blessings of God pouring into our lives. It is believing in what He has done for us.
Look at Vss. 4-5 MSG, If you’re a hard worker and do a good job, you deserve your pay; we don’t call your wages a gift. But if you see that the job is too big for you, that it’s something only God can do, and you trust him to do it—you could never do it for yourself no matter how hard and long you worked—well, that trusting-him-to-do-it is what gets you set right with God, by God. Sheer gift.
So often I have found myself unconsciously believe erroneously that something I have done or am doing is what should be pleasing God to honor His promises to me, but in fact that is exactly what disqualifies me to receive what He has already done for me. What He has revealed to me requires a major shift in renewing our minds and thinking!
